Cloudspotting for Beginners - an evening with Gavin Pretor-Pinney, Monday. October 2 at the Monsanto Auditorium

We are thrilled to partner with the University of Missouri to support what we know is going to be a fascinating talk.

Gavin Pretor-Pinney is founder of the Cloud Appreciation Society and bestselling author of The Cloudspotter’s Guide and The Cloud Collector’s Handbook and A Cloud A Day. Winner of the Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books, he is a TED Global speaker with over 1.3 million views.

In this enlightening and entertaining talk, Gavin explains why clouds look the way they do, how the sky has played a cameo role throughout the history of art, how clouds reveal the invisible movements of our atmosphere, and why spending a few moments each day with your head in the clouds helps you keep your feet on the ground. You will learn how cloud identification can help you forecast the weather, how a simple quality of water explains why clouds feel so dynamic, evocative and magical, and why cloudspotting is the perfect antidote to the pressures of the digital world. Looking up will never be the same again.

Please note that this event takes place on the MU Campus at the Bond Life Sciences Center. Attendance is $5 (free for MU students) and registration is required. You can do that by clicking here.
